Achilles Gatsonis

Research Assistant

Achilles Gatsonis is an MD-PhD student at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Prior to beginning his medical training, he earned an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University in 2024 and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2022. While at Brown, his thesis focused on leveraging transformer-based artificial intelligence models for the detection and forecasting of sleep apnea from electrocardiogram signals. His current work involves the implementation of a prototypical explainability framework for histopathology images to advance interpretable, AI-based diagnostics. His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine, with a focus on creating clinically interpretable tools that bridge cutting-edge computational methods with patient care
